Workshop Description

grey OSOP announces International Training Workshop in Volcanic Seismology
OSOP will be hosting a week-long training program in volcanic seismology and seismo-acoustics, including hands-on training in the methods of automated data acquisition and processing. The program is directed at observatory personnel, research scientists and graduate students alike. Lectures will be offered in English and Spanish.

The course will be largely based on the recent publication:

V.M. Zobin Introduction to Volcano Seismology, 2nd Edition, Elsevier, 2012, 482 p.

The program includes a field excursion to Baru volcano. Activities will include field geology, deposit characterization and hazard mapping.

Instructors

Principal: Professor Vyacheslav M. Zobin of the Observatorio Vulcanológico, Colima, México.
Guest lectures by: Doctor Jeffrey B. Johnson of New Mexico Tech, Socorro, USA.
& Members of the OSOP team: Dr. Wilfried Strauss, Angel Rodriguez and Branden C. Christensen
